Activity: Build a Story Flowchart
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat. “I don't much care where—” said Alice. “Then it doesn't matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
~ Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
Instructions:
- Consult your "IF Flowchart Guide" and select a method of choice (post-it notes, graph paper, whiteboard, etc.)
- Reread your chapter and carefully draft up a functional flowchart. You may refine it as much as you want while considering the full textual terrain of your game world. Remember that the player might just choose to stray off the beaten path and you must consider that scenario. Consider where Alice might have ended up if she took the other path at the fork in the road (Carroll never told us what lies beyond). Exercise creative license when needed.
